V-Residence
Reno, Nevada

This 5,700 square foot residence located at the base of the Sierra Nevada's was conceptualized around views and sustainability.

There are views from every side of the residence.  There is a strong connection between interior and exterior through the placement of the openings and the flow of the living space from inside to outside.

The design incorporates many sustainable features such as, passive strategies (shading, prevailing winds and thermal mass), recycled building materials (reclaimed wood siding), longevity of building products (zinc siding and concrete walls), enhanced indoor environmental quality, high efficiency lighting, low-e windows, continuous insulation on the exterior, native and low-water consuming landscaping.

Saddlebow Residence
Reno, Nevada

Features of this home were the blending of the building components into the natural elements of the surrounding landscape and sensitivity to the site.  This is accomplished through the use of "stepped" design to allow the home to follow the natural contours to achieve a more balanced site by having very little import or export of fill material.  There is a strong connection between interior and exterior through the placement of the openings and the flow of the living space from inside to outside.  The use of differing exterior materials and their subdued colors help the residence fade into the natural surroundings.  The home was oriented in order to capture the best views from the lot, while also considering the prevailing winds to help cool the house.

Uphill Backyard
Reno, Nevada

This custom backyard design was created out of necessity to create proper drainage at the families home. With our recent wet winters, and the neighbors home being ten feet higher in
elevation, there was water pooling under the crawl space. The homeowners wanted to create a maintenance free backyard with different zones for entertaining and activities.
