Located at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, this home takes full advantage of the southern exposure while capturing the views of Mt. Rose and Slide Mountain. Subdued materials and a low profile help this residence blend into the landscape.
Office 507
Reno, Nevada
A duplex office building designed on an infill downtown commercial lot. Emphasis was on passive solar heating and cooling, lighting techniques, thermal collection and storage, solar water heating and advanced building systems. There were many planning and building placement issues with city codes because the project was situated on a site that already consisted of another office complex. This project is currently in the planning stages.
K Residence
Reno, Nevada
A 3,200 square foot residence located at the base of Sierra Nevada's with a design team committed to a zero heat/ air-conditioned environment. This was achieved through building orientation, sun studies for both passive and active solar aspects, as well as summer shading techniques, prevailing wind studies for cooling and fountain placement for evaporative cooling. The client was a pilot that depended on the cardinal points for navigation and wanted that design theme stressed throughout.
House 142
Reno, Nevada
A 10,000 square foot residence located in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Design was based on the 360 degree views with the main window wall focused on the downtown Reno view.
Hydrogen Fueling Stations
I-5 Corridor, California
Design for hydrogen fueling stations that use electrolyzer technology on site that separates water into its component elements, hydrogen and oxygen. First station will be in Carson City, Nevada and if successful used along the I-5 corridor in California. The project consists of three different design concepts.
El Mundo Latino
Reno, Nevada
A 10,000 square foot retail building located in the heart of the Latino District. The project was designed to be inviting to pedestrian as well as, vehicular traffic through the use of color, openness, scale, mass and materiality. As part of the Wells Avenue Redevelopment Corridor, the owner not only wanted to create a new development, but also wanted to focus on affordable, sustainable opportunities.
Vassar Solar Community
Reno, Nevada
An affordable urban infill community development consisting of three single story and three two story single family dwellings. These units were designed to accommodate numerous sustainable features, while keeping costs at starter home prices. The goal of the developer was to change the way we design sub-divisions and to bring sustainable design to the masses.
Floorcraft
Reno, Nevada
A 5,000 square foot showroom, office and warehouse for a local custom floor business. The client had outgrown their existing building and was looking for a fresh look and start in the Wells Avenue District. The client also requested a “flexible design” approach, where the building could easily change occupants and/ or tenant needs. The storefront glass system was positioned for both a vehicular and pedestrian visual connection, as well as solar orientation. This project is currently in the building department.
Shangri-la Residence
Reno, Nevada
A passive solar home design on an infill lot in the Plumas District. Properly sized overhangs on the south-facing windows help to minimize heat gain in the summer months. The "stepped" design follows the contours of the lot to minimize site impact.
